A very big thank you to everyone who helped to make the 2022 Northumbria Masters Congress a great success! I am pleased to announce that next year’s Northumbria Masters Congress is planned for the same August Bank Holiday Weekend (24-28 August, 2023) at the same excellent venue, St Mary’s Catholic School, Newcastle upon Tyne NE7 7PE. Here is some information about more FIDE-rated Standard & Rapid Play events in Newcastle upon Tyne over the coming months:
1. 4th EJCOA International, 24-28 October, 2022. Venue: Forest Hall Social Club, Errington Terrace, Newcastle upon Tyne NE12 9DQ. Includes: A) IM norm all-play-all (average rating 2283.5+, IM norm: 6.5/9) B) FIDE-rated Challengers Swiss tournament (open to players of all ratings)

2. Forest Hall Rapidplay Grand Prix 2022-23A series of 5 FIDE-rated Rapidplay Congresses on the following Saturdays:
- November 19, 2022
- January 28, 2023
- March 11, 2023
- April 23, 2023
- June 17, 2023
Each Congress includes Open, Minor & Junior tournaments
Total Grand Prix prize fund: £2770
Prizes in each Rapidplay: £500
